About Sacred Trees

Anne Cochrane~ Founder and Lead Facilitator

More than 30 years ago, I fell in love with the outdoors through a thing called a mountain bike. It changed the course of my life. Through riding, I found strength, purpose, and a sense of belonging I didn’t know I was missing until I had it. That love affair turned into a lifelong obsession with building community and advocating for more trails, more access, more woods for more people.

For more than 25 years, I’ve co-owned a community-centered bike shop that somehow became less of a business and more of a living room with bike racks — a gathering place for cyclists of every age and skill level, including the ones who show up more for the coffee, beer, and conversation than the gear. I’m also a licensed therapist, a mother, a competitive cyclist, and an entrepreneur (four jobs, one nervous system. I bet you’re thinking you can relate!) My work braids together everything I know about psychotherapy, mindfulness, nervous system regulation, movement, community, and nature to help people reconnect with themselves through the beautiful and messy chaos of midlife.

The why behind Sacred Trees

"I built the space I was looking for and could not find. A place where active women in midlife could stop searching alone and start reconnecting together."

Sacred Trees was born from a simple belief: healing doesn’t only happen in a therapy office. It happens on trail, or with sand between the toes- sitting around campfires, in conversations you can only have with dirt under your nails, through movement, and in the company of others who truly see and support one another.

I built Sacred Trees mainly with active women in midlife in mind — women renegotiating their bodies, their identities, their patience for nonsense, all at the same time. Women who are ready to trade “I’m fine” for something closer to the truth. That will always be the heart of this place. But healing on a trail doesn’t check ID, so if you’re not a midlife woman and you’re still nodding along — come anyway. The woods have room.

My hope is simple: that everyone who shows up leaves a little more grounded, a little more connected, and a lot more like themselves than when they arrived. Muddy shoes optional. Honesty required.

Why Sacred Trees?
The name Sacred Trees comes from a simple belief: every person is inherently worthy. Each of us is unique, with our own story, strengths, struggles, and path to follow. And yet, we're never truly separate.

Like trees in a forest, we stand as individuals, but beneath the surface we are deeply connected. Trees communicate through vast underground root systems, support one another, share nutrients, and weather storms together. They bend with the wind, grow toward the light, and become stronger over time because they exist within a community.
I believe people are much the same.Healing doesn't happen in isolation. It happens through connection—to ourselves, to one another, and to the natural world. When we feel rooted in who we are, supported by our community, and connected to something larger than ourselves, we become more resilient, more grounded, and more fully alive.Sacred Trees is a reminder that we all have deep roots, that growth often happens slowly, and that even in seasons of change, we are never growing alone.

Grounded in Purpose, Built Around Real Women

Real Connection

We build spaces where honest conversation replaces performance. Women come here to be real, not to present a version of themselves that has it all together.

Body Wisdom

We trust that the body knows things the mind has not caught up to yet. Our experiences use movement, nature, and somatic awareness to help women access that knowing.

Lasting Transformation

Sacred Tress mission is to give active women in midlife a real space to reconnect with their bodies, each other, and themselves. No self-help jargon, no forced affirmations circle — just movement, nature, and community doing what they've always done best. Renewed energy included. Remembering who you are, guaranteed-ish.

What Women Experience Every Time They Show Up

01

A space that takes you seriously. Not as a patient, not as a student, but as a capable woman navigating something real.

02

Experiences designed to balance challenge and restoration. You will move, rest, reflect, and connect, sometimes all in the same afternoon.

03

An atmosphere where you do not have to perform wellness. Honest, warm, and free from the pressure to look like you have it all figured out.

04

A community of women who are in the same chapter. Not just the same age, but the same inner terrain: shifting roles, shifting bodies, and a real desire to come back to themselves.
